about

The noise and beauty of a lefthanded record.

Q~td (...) (2002)

With the strangest and longest album title in the history of music, Pi's second album is a blend of electronic soundscapes, sometimes bright, sometimes suffocating... The continued sound diary preserves its immersive ambients, where João Dorminsky's somewhat mutant beats fuse Jungle, Big Beat, Ambient and World Music in unexpected compositions, based on small image fragments and specific moments of his life.

"Qt-d ac~ke Pmduca P~uca rmduden Manapa Scacnr~br b ~rrõr k~da-arrdor EdYor #rrdor of Photogapha DLndor of Ug~~g M ~ndor Sa oa~ma Co~uma Dcdgna Maktup A~~ Loa-on Sound Mka Sound Supcnbor MudcComposa S~lPhdoãpha Poda 8 Wsu~Am4 ~~~Rl Supenõr" is a sweet and sour record, where each song is a page filled from top to bottom.

"Bj" is like an abrasive and sickening heat wave where everything gets slow and out of focus, "Marianne" a warm corner of the heart, "Meduzza!" a revival of offbeat moments, "Inside my cpu" a strange composition built around a noise of something misplaced in a computer and "It's between you two! (OST)" the sound journal of a talk about rehabilitation.

The album cover orientation is misleading, raising doubt if the artwork is upside down or, if it's in fact, a record for left-handed people.
As carnal as it can be, Qt~-d (...) reflects the love and confusion of a post-hangover madness, that came from the obscure first album released in 2001, "Yi".

about

Pi Porto, Portugal

Pi is best described as "sound poetry".

Drum & Bass, Ambient, Chill out, World Music and Noise aren't broad enough genres to be aplied individually to a single song. They're short stories, moments and fragments of the mind's awakening to a dream-like state.

A book with a beginning, a middle... and many chapters.
